Claudio Ranieri coached the team for two spells during 1997-99 and 2004-05 respectively. Ranieri trained the team to win one Copa del Rey, one UEFA Intertoto Cup and one UEFA Super Cup. Hector Cuper trained the club from 1999-2001 and helped to win one Supercopa de Espana. Rafael Benitez proved to be one of the best managers of Valencia by winning La Liga of 2001-02. Benitez trained the team to win league title and a UEFA Cup in 2004. Ronald Koeman won the Spanish Cup of 2007-08 with Valencia CF. Koeman trained the club for one year from 2007-08.  Benardino Perez also coached the team for two spells to win one Copa del Rey and one UEFA Super Cup. Fernando Gomez played for Valencia as a midfielder with a record of 421 La Liga matches and ranked as the fourth highest scorer. Gomez played for 15 years at the club.
