Gerard Pique- Barcelona football clubGerard Pique Bernabeu is a Spanish international footballer, born on Feb 2, 1987, in Barcelona, Spain. He plays for the FC Barcelona and the Spanish international football team as a central defender.

Gerard Pique began his professional football career at Barcelona’s youth academy in Cataluna, before he left the club for the English league team Manchester United in 2004, where he stayed for four years before returning to Barcelona under the Josep Guardiola’s leadership. Soon, Pique became a key figure in six trophy winning Barcelona side, as Barcelona won its third UEFA Champions League trophy in 2008 after the arrival of central-back, Gerard Pique. His role in the football world was completed as he played a major part in Spain’s 2010 World Cup win in South Africa.

Since his arrival at Camp Nou, he has made 77 appearances for Barcelona, winning the major trophies like the UEFA Champions League title for Barcelona and FIFA World Cup title for Spain, including 2 La Liga titles, 2 Spanish Super Cups and 1 UEFA Super Cup title. He also capped 30 times for the national team and was a member of the historic 2010 World Cup winning side.

Pique first appeared in the Spanish international team on Feb 11, 2009, for the friendly match against England in Seville, which they won by 2-0. He started his international career playing for Spain under-19 team that won the 2006 U-19 European Championship in Poland. Meanwhile, he was also a part of the U-21 team. He also played in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, playing five matches and scoring a goal for the team in a crucial 4-2 victory over Brazil in the round of 16. Unfortunately, they were kicked out of the competition at the quarter-final stages as Pique missed the deciding penalty against the Czech Republic.
