Famous football player Eden Hazard is 20 year old Belgian born footballer (7 January 1991) who plays his football for French football club Lille. He stands in at 1.70 meter (5 feet and 7 inches) plays primarily as an attacking midfielder or winger and wears the number 26 shirt. He’s also represented Belgian at the international level. He’s labeled as one of the hottest young prospects in European Football. Hazard broke into Lille’s senior team from their youth team in 2007. It took time for him to settle but he finally reached his peak in the 2010-2011 season in which he helped Lille secure a historic season by winning The French League and The French Cup and securing a great double season for the club. Hazard can play with both his right and left feet due to which he was deployed on either of the wings in Lille’s much used 4-3-3 formation. He was regularly switching flanks with his teammate Gervinho. Eden Hazard is famous for his pace and dribbling skills and possesses outrageous long range shooting skills. One of his best qualities as a footballer is his calmness and coolness under pressure which he has been criticized by some managers as in lacking charisma but he just likes to remain cool and collected and is considered one of the most honest footballers in Europe at the moment. He was also voted as UNFP Ligue 1 Young player of the year in 2008 and 2009 and as the Player of The Year in 2010-2011. He’s also been voted in the team of the year both in 2009-10 and 2010-2011. He made his international debut in 2008 but is yet to score for Belgium.

Unlike the performance by countries the performance by Confederation is slightly different. The UEFA confederation comes in first having won the tournament a record 4 times in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. They also finished runners up two times in 2005 and 2006 while they finished fourth once in 2000. In second is CONMEBOL confederation that have won it 3 times in 2000, 2005 and 2006 and finished runner-up a record 4 times in 2000, 2007, 2008 and in 2009. They also finished third in 2010. No other Confederation has the honor of winning The FIFA Club World Championships. But CAF confederation finished runners up in 2010, third in 2006 and fourth in 2007. While The AFC Confederation has finished third 3 times in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and fourth in 2005 and 2010. The CONCACAF confederation has finished third twice in 2000 and 2005 while fourth 3 times in 06,08 and 09.

Top Goal Scorers – FIFA World Club

Denilson of Pohang Steelers is the top goal scorer in the tournament with 4 goals. While Aboutrika, Anelka, Molina, Romario, Wayne Rooney and Washington all have 3 goals in the tournament. While Dwight Yorke remains the only player in FIFA Club World Cup history to score a goal for two different clubs. He’s scored for Manchester United and Sydney FC one goal each. Edilson won the Golden Ball in 2000 while Ceni won it in 2005. Deco in 2006, Kaka in 2007, Wayne Rooney in 2008, Lionel Messi in 2009 and Samuel Eto’o in 2010.

Although the other club championships in European club football are more popular, F.A. cup gains importance when some arch rivals of football club world from English Premier League face each other. Thus although its popularity is lesser than the popularity of European Champion’s League or Europa League it is still a very important tournament where many times top English clubs compete with each other. Football fans in Europe love the thrill of watching tough club football matches. One reason of F.A. cup popularity is thus this factor, that it some times offers the most thrilling matches of the season to football lovers.

Usually it is believed that Champions League in European club football is the most popular club football tournament in the world. This might be correct but the popularity of Europa League cannot be denied. Most important reason of its popularity is that any top club who fails to make it to the top slots to qualify for Champions league makes it to Europa league. This automatically makes this tournament equally thrilling and equally star studded.

Copa Sudamericana is a football tournament held annually in South America by CONMEBOL since 2002. It is considered as The South American equivalent of The UEFA Cup and is The continent’s second most prestigious tournament after The Copa Libertadores. As of now 39 teams take part in the tournament who qualify after meeting a certain criteria formed by The CONMEBOL. The tournament starts as a two legged knockout stage after which the winners of the stage face off with other teams entering the competition. All the ties are two legged affairs and do not have extra time and follow the away goals rule or the goal difference. The one exception is the final in which extra time and then a penalty shoot out is carried out.

Winners of Copa Sudamericana-From 1988-2010
