FIFA World Cup 2010: Group F

by on June 1, 2010

2010_FIFA_World_Cup_logoBoy O Boy! The groups just won’t end. It’s amazing to see so many teams participating in one event. Group F of FIFA World Cup 2010 has the defending champion Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay and Slovakia. This group will play its matches from 14-24 June 2010. All eyes are on Group F as Italy is being supported by a majority which makes them favorite for this year.

Interesting fact

This is the very first time that all four of these teams are playing in the same group. But Italy and Paraguay met back in 1950 in which none of the teams qualified even though Paraguay scored 1-0 Italy. Sometimes, fate does not have much for the teams.

With having the defending champion like Italy, what ambiguity could anyone have while predicting the qualifying team from this group? Italy has a top class goal keeper with extravagant defense which makes them a very strong opponent. Along with Italy, Paraguay has the potential to qualify for the next round. But you never know what 90 minutes game would offer by the end!

The winning teams of Group F will play runners-up of group E while the Group F runners-up will play the winners of Group E.
