Valencia football club was founded in the year 1919. The first stadium was Algiros opened on 7 December 1919 but from 1923, they have played the home games at Estadio Mestalla. Valencia is the third successful club in terms of continental titles by winning five or more continental titles. The first match played by Valencia after setting up the club was away from home in Castellon against Valencian Gimnastico. Valencia became regional champions in the year 1923. Valencia became a strong club in football after three or four years of its foundation.

The historic debut of the club in a league match was on 17th February 1929 which was won by Valencia against Oviedo. The first victory after the foundation is in 1941 by winning the great national title against Espanol. After that they became one of the big team of Spanish football with a third position in the League and also with several international players. Valencia won the League Championship in 1941-42. Valencia won the title of La Liga in the season of 2001-02 after 31 years of winning the last title.
