Korea DPR football team has always surprised the Asian team by making their appearance at different tournaments and they did the same in the 2010 world cup qualifying round when they booked their berth for 2010 world cup event in South Africa. They lived their reputation of surprise package from Asia and made a comeback to the event after 44 long years. In their last appearance in biggest football event, they were at their best and reached to the top eight before exiting the tournament there. They missed the place in 2006 Germany world cup by a whisker but they made sure in the 2010 world cup qualifiers to reach to the destination.
Even though, it was not an easy journey to 2010 world cup, they made sure their place in their last qualifying game by holding Saudi Arabia to a draw. They finished at the second place in the table and got their place into the world cup finals. The team is relying on the performances of 27 – year old Hong Yong-Jo who is a successive goal scorer for them and Japanese Korean Jong Tae-Se who can breach the defense of any side. They are relying on the safe hands of their golly Ri Myong-Guk and midfielder Mun In-Guk. Kim Jong-Hun is a guide of the team who will definitely see the team to the bigger stages of the game in 2010 FIFA world cup in South Africa.
