Roberto Carlos or born as Roberto Carlos da Silva Rocha was born on the 10th of April, 1973 and is a former footballer who played for Brazil. He also worked s a sporting director for the Russian Premier League. The player was mostly positioned as left wingback however, his career initially made him to play as a forward player.
In the year 1992, he started his professional football career with the Brazilian national team and was made part of the three to play three World Cup tournaments. Among these three matches, the Brazilian team managed to reach the finals in the 1998 World Cup and won the 2002 World Cup. For 11 years he played for the La Liga club in Real Madrid and appeared in over 370 matches. His team won four leagues, 3 UEFA Champions League as well as 2 Intercontinental Cups. Roberto Carlos attained a total of 125 caps by scoring about 11 goals. In the World Cup of 1998, Carlos played 7 matches which are inclusive of the final match which the team lost against France. He was also included in the All Star Team of the World Cup. The player got prominence for his famous free kick in a match against France in 1997. The kick was shot from a distance of 115 ft from the very centre right of the channel by using the left foot and made a goal. On the 2nd of August, 2012, Roberto Carlos took retirement from international football when he reached the age of 39.
