The club was founded on Octuber 20, 1905 and since then they are regularly participating in the Turkish Top-flight ‘Super Lig’ and are regarded as the most successful league teams of Turkey. Galatasaray S.K. is a very well-known and major sports club in Turkey, holding the joint record for Turkish League title on domestic level, including the highest number of Turkish Cups. Galatasaray’s home ground is ‘Turk Telekom Arena’ with capacity of 53,000 spectators.

Galatasaray football club are more often nickenamed “Cim Bom”, “Aslanlar (The Lions)”, “San-Kirmizihlar (yellow-Reds)” and “Avrupa Fatihi (Conqueror of Europe)”. They play home games in Red and Yellow combination Jersey with White shorts, while away games in Grey jersey with Red shorts. Turk Telekom are the major shirt sponsor of Galatasaray, and Nike is the official Kit suppliers of the club.

Galatasaray football club have won the first Turkish Super League title in 1961/62 season and are the shared-record holder with 17 titles. Not only this they are also the record 14 time title holders of Turkish Cup, including 11 times record title holders of Turkish Super Cup. They are ranked as the top teams of Turkey and have also won UEFA Europa League title in 1999/2000 season and UEFA Super Cup title in 2000 season. The club is currently playing under the coaching of Bulent Under, placing 3rd in the last 2009/2010 season, while Adnan Polant is an active chairman of Galatasaray.

Bulent Korkamaz football player holds the record for most league appearance for Galatasaray football club, having played 430 games, while Hakan Sukur Football Player holds the record for most Turkish Liga goal scorer with 228 goals.
