Steve Cherundolo of Hannover 96 football clubAlthough the Hannover 96 football club has been around for a long time but since they have always been into financial troubles hence have never been able to draw in big named players likes the other big European clubs.

One of the most well known players who have played for the club would have to be Robert Enke, the goal keeper for Hannover 96 FC who committed suicide in 1999 due to depression. The incident drew international media attention and had a great impact on the German nation on the whole.

From the present squad, the club captain and a good defender Steve Cherundolo has been a great servant of the club for over a decade now. He declined a move to the English Premier League and decided to remain at the German club because of his attachment to the team.

In the mid 1990s , players of the likes of Gerald Asamoah, Sebestian Kehl and  Fabian Ernst played for Hannover 96 FC and helped them get out of  third division football and exalted them into top flight German Bundesliga.

Although there are many other names that have represented the Hannover 96 football club over these years but these names would always echo in the club’s history as a few of their most faithful servants.
